Come run the Cedar City Thunderbird Ultra.  Experience the beautiful mountains, red rock canyons, Pinyon Juniper forests, and a peak elevation of 8,250 feet all in one amazing trail race.  This race at any distance will not disappoint! Join us for a day of great racing while knowing all proceeds go towards supporting those in need around the world.

 Course Description: Some exciting changes in 2020. We now offer a 15K, 25k, 50k and 50 Mile!!! All distances will leave Veterans Ballpark out the North side of the parking lot take a right onto E 275 N go .1 mile.  Turn left on N Highland Drive, then immediately turn right onto E Rainbow Canyon Circle. In .1 Miles run through the dead end of the pavement and onto the trails. Follow the flagging up the wash for .5 miles up the short climb to the spine trail, Take a right continuing south until reaching the bottom of the knife edge ridge, take a hard 180 degree turn and head back north up the wash for approximately 1 mile until you hit the gravel road. At the gravel road turn right and head up the road .25 to the Thunderbird Gardens trail head. 50 MILE RUNNERS ONLY course will head north out of the Thunderbird Gardens Trail head, over the ridge following the flagging to turn right and follow N. Knoll St. for .5 miles. turn right again on the ATV trail and follow it up the hill around to the 13th Hole trail and back to the Thunderbird Gardens trail head. ALL OTHER DISTANCES At the Thunderbird Garden trail head head up the main trail .2 miles. Take a left up the Lightning Switch trail, follow the trail for several miles until you reach the Ghost Flats Trail, turn right on Ghost Flats trail down the mountain until it merges into the Thor’s Hideout trail. Go left on to Thor’s Hideout and follow it to a saddle, continue through the saddle south down the Red Hollow trail until it meets State Highway 14 at the Red Hollow Aid station. Cross Hwy 14 (traffic will not be stopped and runners will be responsible for their own safety as the cross Hwy 14)   15K RUNNERS ONLY merge onto the paved bike path following it .9 M to Policy Kings Brewery to Finish. ALL OTHER DISTANCES Once on the south side of Hwy 14 cross the foot bridge turn left on paved path and then right onto dirt road and follow flagging up the steep ridge on to some ATV trails and over to a another ridge trail and follow it to the C trail 25K RUNNERS ONLY will turn right and head down the C trail and to finish at Policy Kings Brewery.  ALL OTHER DISTANCES Take a left heading up the C-Trail 1.7 miles to the top. Collect what you would like from your drop bags at the C-Trail aid station, then turn around and head back down the C-Trail in 1.9 miles turn left onto the Highlands Trial follow for 1.5 miles to the Highlands/Green Hollow Aid station. From the aid station head down the Green Hollow trail another 2 miles take a left onto the Boulder Dash trail follow it to the Lava Flow trail, turn left on to Lava Flow trail run down to the bottom. 50K RUNNERS ONLY Continue up Lichen It trail and continue on and up to the Green Hollow trail junction. Take a left and retrace your steps back through the Highlands/Green Hollow Aid station to the C-Trail, take a left and head down the trail to the paved trail and back to the Finish line at Policy Kings Brewery50 MILE RUNNERS ONLY From the Bottom of Lava Flow Runners will head south on the Turn Pike Trail continue south Take a Left onto the Elevate trail. Follow it until it turns into Black Ops and then continue down to Bottom and take a left onto the Turn Pike trail and continue to he Shurtz Canyon Trail head. Turn around and head south back to down the Turn Pike to the Bottom of Lava Flow. Continue up Lichen It trail and continue on and up to the Green Hollow trail junction. Take a left and retrace your steps back through the Highlands/Green Hollow Aid station to the C-Trail, take a left and head down the trail to the paved trail and back to Policy Kings Brewery for the finish!  .
